Depurador Program
In October, Depurador systems were installed in the 15 de Mayo neighborhoods (La Paz) for a total of eighty-five families and in the Sirara neighborhood (Chinacla) for fourteen benefiting families. Both neighborhoods lack potable water systems. The Depuradors will solve their health problems due to the poor quality of water they were consuming.
In November, another Depurador system was installed in La Cuesta neighborhood (Chinacla) as part of Georgia’s Health Study. This benefits seventeen families.

Chlorinators Program
In September, a chlorinator was installed in the Las Marias neighborhood benefiting thirty-five families. Training was provided on chlorinator use, dosage and capacity.
Ceramic Filters Program
In October and November, ceramic filters were turned over to the neighborhoods of El Chorro (fifteen filters) and Arenales (twenty-seven filters) in Chinacla Municipality for a total of forty-two filters.
Both El Chorro and Arenales lack potable water systems. The ceramic filters are easy to use and an economical alternative that improves water quality and thus the health and life style of the people.
Health, Hygiene and Sanitation Program
Training was given to sixty-five people in total at the Jose Trinidad Reyes School in the Planes Neighborhood in the Cabanas Municipality with twenty-nine students, nine heads of family and two teachers and at the Miguel Paz Barahona School in the Cabanas Centro Municipality with twenty-five students. The following modules were given out:
- Hygiene
- Consequences of Bad Hygiene
- Safe Water (Water Disinfection)
- Garbage Collection and Handling
This training has shown the great need that exists not only for water system chlorination but equally for good hygiene habits and basic sanitation. It needs to be emphasized that these modules are aimed at students in the schools, housewife clubs, mothers and fathers of families and teachers. All of these have important roles in their neighborhoods.
